About Us

At the Global Mental Health Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University, we focus on research and capacity building in policy, prevention, treatment and care with the ultimate objective of closing the treatment gap for people living with mental and neurological and disorders.

The lab is directed by Dr. Helen Verdeli and comprises both Ph.D. and M.A. students from the clinical psychology program at Teachers College.

The Global Mental Health Lab, founded in the Fall of 2008, provides graduate students with opportunities to develop and contribute to global mental health research under the mentorship of Dr. Verdeli and her collaborators from other institutions such as Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

On this website, you will find the thoughts and opinions of our students and stakeholders on the field of global mental health research.
